in fancy or in poverty

Today has been a hard day food wise. I have been absolutely ravenous all day. I think it's nerves. Tomorrow is my last day. I have a back-up job (at Cosi), and a really good lead for a "real job." But I am totally over the wallet thing.

But I've been really hungry. I took pictures, but nothing is interesting.

Breakfast: Starbucks drink
Lunch: Turkey, Gouda, Cranberry Chutney sandwich and an orange
Dinner: Tomato soup and 8 crackers
Snack: Bowl of Wheat Chex

Total of 993 calories.

I know that's puny. I know I need to eat more. But there is nothing I want to eat. I WANT CHOCOLATE or a hearty stew or something substantial. And I have nothing substantial in the house. I haven't cooked much this week, partially due to my fear of having no money and partially due to my inability to access the money we have (due to lost wallet). And I've been busy in my evenings, applying for jobs and such.

It's a good thing that I didn't have any money today. I wouldn't have trusted myself. Most days at work, we all eat lunch together around a big table. Today, it was my sandwich, several Taco Bell bags, a few Wendy's bag, and leftover Hamburger Helper. For the first time since I started my healthy habits, I felt genuinely cheated. And angry. I really REALLY wanted grease! And I've carried that with me all day. And what did I do with it? I ate tomato soup. And now I'm going to the gym. And watching the one remaining Grey's Anatomy while I'm there!

Fat Bridesmaid let me know that this is National De-Lurking Week. In honor, I commented on each blog that I read today. There are a lot of you out there that I don't know, and I'm inviting you to delurk today. But I have a very selfish reason for this. I am motivated to work out by television. We don't have cable (and haven't for 4 years), so I watch tv on the treadmill. My current favorites are Alton Brown on the Food Network and What Not to Wear on Friday nights. But I don't know what else is out there, or when it is on.

So I'm asking for your help. I usually work out between 7 and 10 pm. What is your favorite show? What night and what network? What should I be watching? De-Lurkers Unite!

I think you need to eat something yummy that will fill you up..If you are feeling hungry, make some stew and eat it..At least you are not snacking...Good luck with the workouts and thanks for visiting my blog..oh yeah, i lost a pound this morning..

The kids and I love watching Moonlight on friday's at 8PM, I think 9pm your time. We watch the biggest loser on occasion. Emma would tell you to watch Hannah Montana on Disney, and Jon would tell you what ball game was coming up. As for me, I like the Moonlight show-vampires, romance....oooohhh I wish it were friday already.

I really like watching "Big Medicine" on TLC on Wednesday nights at 9. The new season just started. It is about weight loss surgery (which I don't think I would ever have but I find it fascinating) and it is about people that have lost a bunch of weight after surgery and they get plastic surgery to get rid of excess skin.

Oh man, I could go on (maybe this is why I still am not exercising??). Desperate Housewives on Sundays is awesome. I love House (my FAVORITE!!) on Tuesdays and October Road is on Mondays or Tuesdays. I usually watch them on DVR, so I forget :P

I love Alton Brown as well... but, alas, I don't watch a great deal of television. I'm afraid I'm no help in this department, but I couldn't leave without "delurking."

Thanks for leaving me a comment, Krissie! You could use a hearty stew AND some chocolate! How can you get by with so little food? Well, I guess I used to be able to do that, too, but not anymore.

I also like Alton Brown. I enjoy the show Big Medicine, too, as "S" commented. I love a lot of the British shows like Doc Martin and Midsomer Murders. I watch them on Canadian networks, though.

I have no TV suggestions right now but I'll think about it. I'm a big fan of Alton Brown though. No Reservations w. Anthony Bourdain is good too (Monday nights on Travel Channel I think).

And to answer your question from my blog I think you should download "Take It From Me" by The Weepies and/or "Ohio" by Over The Rhine. Both are excellent.

I work out at The Sports Science Institute of South Africa, where they are serious about exercise! All the major sports people work out there too. There are no televisions! So I listen to music on my mp3, but lately I've thinking that I'd like to listen to motivational messages, even some focused meditation while slogging away. I must really see if I can find something like that...

Hi Krissie,
I agree with everyone who said you need some chocolate and some stew. Stew is one of the easiest things you could make and it's so perfect for this weather. Get some beef tips to put in it and a few bags of frozen veggies with a large can of tomato juice. Or, you could get a roast and put it in the slow cooker with onion soup mix, potatoes, carrots, celery & onion. Either way, it's yummy.

As for TV, I watch House & Grey's. I am a big fan of audiobooks when I exercise. I'm about to read "Ask and it is Given" By Esther and Jerry Hicks. It's a book about the law of attraction.
Very powerful.

Girl, go get you some chocolate! Seriously, just a few kisses or something. It'll help take the craving away.

I know the feeling about wanting to eat everything in site! I get that ALOT! :))))

I love to watch all the reality TV that I can get my hands on. Alot of repeats now with the writers strike though - I love CSI, Criminal Minds, Moonlight, and Ghost Whisperer. Makes an hour go by real quick!

I love Pushing Daisies ABC Wednesdays- but on hiatus now due to strike. Honey, can I be bossy commenter? Not bossy, but opinionated. I would like to say that you should indulge in your desire for a stew or a wee bit of a fatty treat. I think moderation is key. You have a MUCH better handle on your intake than I do, so I am obviously speaking from my own experience here. If I don't give myself permission for what I would like to eat once in a while, I could end up going off the deep end and eating a bag of M&M's, you know? You must live a little! I hate having that feeling of being angry and I can't eat any of that, etc. So, if I have a little, most of the time it will be really worth it, or I will say, oh, well, that wasn't so great. I hope you know that I have nothing but admiration for you and think that all of your hard work is inspiring. Good luck on your last day!
